REGIONAL MANAGER’S OFFICE – IRINGA
CAREER OPPORTUNITY

THE REGIONAL MANAGER’S OFFICE, TANROADS – IRINGA is responsible for the day-to-day management of Trunk and Regional roads network in Iringa region. The primary functions of the Regional Manager’s Office include management of maintenance and development of the network, axle load control, implementation of road safety and environmental measures, Road Reserve Management and provision of technical advice and consultancy services to other Government and private Institutions on issues road related in the Region.

The Regional Manager, TANROADS Iringa on behalf of the Chief Executive TANROADS is looking for open minded and creative candidates who are motivated to work within a modern and dynamic environment. Applications are invited from both qualified men and women to fill the following positions on Contract Basis at the Regional Manager’s Office – Iringa:

1.1   POSITION TITLE: WEIGHTBRIDGE OPERATOR (10 POSTS)

Key qualifications for the weighbridge Operator;

1.       Holder of Full Technician Certificate (FTC), Diploma in Civil/Mechanical/Electrical Engineering;

2.       Must be Computer literate;

3.       Must be fluent in both written and spoken Kiswahili and English languages;

4.       Must be a Tanzanian Citizen;

5.       Not above 35 years of age

Duties and Responsibilities of the Weighbridge Operator

The holder of this post who reports to Shift In-charge will be responsible for:

1.       Enforcing Road Traffic Axle Load Control by the use of Weighbridge scale devices;

2.       Carrying out activities as described in the Road Traffic (maximum Weigh of Vehicles) Regulations, 2001 which include the following:

·         Weighing Motor Vehicles Gross Vehicle Weight (GVW) > 3.500kg plying on our pub!’ Roads,

·         Imposing road damage fees on the spot for overloaded motor vehicles;

·         Measuring physical dimensions of motor vehicle or any load being carried o, he vehicle for determining compliance or non- compliance with vehicle dimension limits by the transporter for provision of relevant advice;

·         Recording all necessary particulars regarding the motor vehicle being weighed

·         Observing good customer care, dignity and integrity;

·         Reporting all matters of the respective shift to the Shift In-charge;

·         Performing other duties as may be assigned from time to time by the She-charge / Regional Manager.

1.2 POSITION TITLE: WEIGHBRIDGE CASHIER (2 POSTS)

Key qualifications;

1.       Education Qualification is a Hold er of Diploma in Accountancy;

2.       Must be Computer literate (at least Advanced Certificate in Computer Applications from a recognized institution);

3.       Must be fluent in both written and spoken Kiswahili and English languages;

4.       Must be a Tanzanian Citizen;

5.       Age limit is not above 35 years.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Weighbridge Cashier should observe good customer care, dignity and integrity to carrying out all cash activities at the  weighbridge as described in the road traffic (Maximum Weigh of Vehicles) Regulations, 2001 including the following duties:-

1.       Collecting and banking all weighbridge charges (fees) according to weighbridge report form;

2.       Seeking current USD exchange rates issued by Bank of Tanzania for case of Imposing charges that are equivalent to Tanzania Shilling and keep exchange rate records;

3.       Timely filling all necessary records timely and keep register area neat;

4.       Reporting all maters to the shift in-charge;

5.       Undertake bank reconciliation;

6.       Performing other duties as may be assigned from time to time by the shift in charge and/or Regional Manager.

1.2   POSITION TITLE: OFFICE ASSISTANT (2 POSTS)

Key qualifications for the Office Assistant

1.       Holder of a Form IV Certificate;

2.       Must be fluent in Kiswahili and preferably be able to communicate in English;

3.       Must be a Tanzanian Citizen;

4.       Not above 35 years of age.
