Location: To be based in Dar es Salaam.

Overall purpose of the position:
The Technical manager is responsible for effective implementation of company strategies in Technical Department. The incumbent is also responsible for the overall operations of Dar es Salaam, Mwanza and Mbeya Plants at high level of efficiency and quality. This includes effective utilization of Human Resources, Plant and Machineries, Fleet Management & Fuel Consumption, Adherence to quality standards as required by different regulations and ensuring that the production process is in line with OSHA standards.
Tasks:
• Translating the approved company strategy to fit in to technical department and ensure that it is understood by all employees.
• Development and implementation of department budget as approved by the board from time to time.
• Ensuring that all plants and Machineries are properly maintained and safeguarded.
• Ensuring that plants reports are produced as per plant manual and address any issues that may result into reduction of plant capacity to produce as required.

• Proposing modifications to plant and systems to improve efficiency and safety.
• Ensuring that any new machine is properly installed and operators responsible have been adequately trained to run them.
• In charge of all maintenance activities and provide specifications should there be a need to buy any spare part.
• Controlling production cost by ensuring optimal utilization of resources in line with the approved budget.
• Ensuring that gas produced is within company quality standards and other standards as provided by legal authorities.
• Ensuring adherence to all ISO 22000 standards related to Food Policy as specifically identified by company Food Safety Manual and Food Safety Policy.
• Ensuring that all products ready for distribution are in safe condition, cylinders are within test standards and valves are well shut.
• Establishing and implementation of controls over usage of company fleet as by company car policy.
• Ensuring that company are properly maintained and services and any repairs done on time.
• Developing and implementing controls over fuel usage and ensure that consumption of fuel is as per identified vehicle’s requirement.
• In conjunction with HR and ADM department, ensuring that defensive driving training is done to all company drivers at least every six month.
• Ensuring that driver’s behaviour and conduct is as per established Code of Conduct – for company drivers.
• Ensuring that the working environment for production employee fulfil OSHA standards.
• In liaison with marketing department, ensuring that all departmental employees have specific PPE’s as required by law.

• Developing and implementing a health and safety training schedule for all staff to ensure that every employee is conversant with company safety and health standards.
• Ensuring that the number of employees fit in to efficient operations to avoid over or under employment.
• Controlling overtimes and ensures that OT is done only when operation needs requires so.
• Effective management of annual leave schedules to ensure that operation is not affected when employees goes on leave.
• Developing and implementing a job rotation schedule to ensure effective transfer of knowledge within department.
• In coordination with HR department, to ensure that there is succession plan for every position within the organisation.
• Ensuring that there is a positive relationship within employees and solves grievances immediately as they occur.
• Implementing the company Performance Development Plan and ensuring that as reviews are done on time as required. Requirement of the position
Education qualification and Experience.
• University degree in Mechanical Engineering/Chemical and processing Engineering. Must be a CRB registered as professional engineer with working experience of at least five years of which three of them should be at senior position.
• Post-graduate qualification in Management is an added advantage.

Type of Contract
Three year contract renewable based on performance and company requirements at the time of renewal.
